Over 100,000 Americans die yearly from overdoses, primarily from opioids taken to relax, calm the mind, and find happiness. For many, sustained happiness is the ultimate goal in life. In this engrossing memoir, mortal adhesions refer to addictions to alcohol, drugs, money, power, prestige, and the Seven Deadly Sins, which stick to us as tightly as post-surgical adhesions, causing intense pain and uncertainty.
